Hello, I’m Tessa.
Certified Health Coach & Permaculture Garden Designer… but really just a mama of two who started out on her own health, gardening & “always-working-towards-living-more-sustainably” journey over 10 years ago. Beginning with a simple garden bed, a few chickens, and some fruit trees I always forgot to water, this slice of nature we now steward has become The Chittle Farmstead; a regenerative ecosystem of food, habitat, and beauty for our family, for nature, for The Tiny House Farmstay guests we host, and for the visitors to our farm food pickups, farm tours, & workshops.
And now that I’ve kinda sorta (always a work in progress!) figured out this whole living modern life of soccer games & school events along with my own version of healthy & sustainable living values…
I’d like to support you in designing your customized healthy lifestyles journey whether it be…
…figuring out how to cook and grocery shop so you can reach your health goals while still eating amazing food that works for your specific health needs.
…finding an exercise system that you can maintain no matter what life throws at you.
…starting a productive kitchen garden with your family and finding time to make beautiful garden to table meals (that your family actually likes!) with your harvest.
…transforming part of your yard from grass to something that gives back to the planet by reducing water use, building the soil, and supporting the pollinators.
… or embarking on any sustainable lifestyle shift from using less plastic, engaging in more DIY or even designing a permaculture farmstead & lifestyle.
Real lasting habit, routine & mindset change can be tough to do alone, and the truth is that our modern systems make it dang hard to implement healthy & sustainable lifestyle shifts even if these shifts are things we really care about (hello, Starbucks on every corner, vegetables always wrapped in plastic, & work/school expectations that leave very little time for gardening or healthy meal prep). It can feel isolating, expensive, or impossible to try to be healthier, grow a garden, or make sustainable shifts when we are participating in modern life and not off in a cabin on a million acres where our kids never hear the world McDonalds, and we never get enticed by the Target $1-$5 rack.
As a partner in your journey, I’m not here to prescribe one diet or exercise regime or preach a complete hippie dippy life overhaul. Instead, we will explore YOUR healthy living vision (those recipes you’ve been wanting to make, the pounds who’ve been meaning to lose, the gluten free diet you know would make you feel better, that garden you’ve dreamed of, the energy & strength you’d like to have to play with your kiddos, the DIY projects and crafts you have pinned on your Pinterest board) and design a plan to achieve it in a way that makes your food tastier, your community stronger, your family more connected, and your brain more at ease rather than these life shifts overwhelming you or competing with the other things you care about in life. Once we know your vision and create the plan of how to get there, we will work through the obstacles, build the skills & habits, & create the accountability to …
MAKE IT HAPPEN.
What I’ve realized is that each of these lifestyle shifts and skills are actually very simple on their own and there are a million tutorials and lots of advice out there…but so many of us (me included!) still struggle to actually step away from the Instagram scroll of all the people doing the things we wish we did and actually make health and lifestyle changes stick in our own lives. It’s not because we are failures…what’s missing in all the inspiration out there is solid support to get clear on the shifts we value most (so we aren’t stuck in overwhelm) and to step through the fear of doing things wrong (because there is soooo much different advice out there!) and the fear that it will all just make your filled-to-the-brim life more busy. Rather than another quick dose of inspiration or how-to video, what most of us now need to move towards our health and garden visions is community around us that normalizes that these new skills and routines CAN be integrated into modern daily life in a way that actually simplifies things, slows things down, makes us feel more connected, and gets us more present with the joy and beauty of this life ….and of course it sure is helpful to have an effective “tailored-to-you-and-your-life-and-your-family” plan of action for doing so one step at a time.
That’s why coaching and community is so important to moving forward in our health, garden & sustainable living goals …it provides that supportive space to make these life shifts in a way that feels easy, purposeful, fun, decadent, and connecting!
My Mission: Through health coaching, garden consultation, skills-building workshops and on-farm experiences, my hope is to build a community that normalizes and simplifies life nourishing practices for healthy & sustainable living within the context of modern living & parenting.
